LNMC shall perform verification according to LVS EN ISO/IEC 17020:2012, calibration and testing according to LVS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and certification according to the requirements of LVS EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013 standards.

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 765/2008, “accreditation” means a certification by a national accreditation body that a conformity assessment body meets the requirements laid down in harmonised standards and, where applicable, any additional requirements, including those laid down in the relevant sectoral schemes, for the performance of a specific conformity assessment activity.

The status of accredited body means that the national Accreditation Bureau of Latvia (hereinafter - LATAK) regularly, independently and impartially assesses the competence and operational procedures of the LNMC, as well as certifies that the body complies with the requirements related to its activities and is competent to carry out the conformity assessment procedures specified in the accreditation process.

LATAK accreditation is internationally recognised as LATAK is a full Member of the European Accreditation Cooperative (EA), the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperative (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).

Accreditation is often used as a tool to strengthen public confidence in companies or organisations operating in different sectors such as healthcare, food production, industry and elsewhere.
